Recommended reading.
Edward B. Fiske has a remarkable op-ed in the Times today about the legacy of “A Nation at Risk” and the state of American education. I don’t know that I’m as optimistic about society’s ability to allow our students “to make better use of what they do know,” but this is an extremely well-written piece that offers a lot to think about.
